Over the last few days multiple people have told us that they received a letter on behalf of STOP through the Libertarian Party of Sacramento County.
The Libertarian Party of Sacramento County endorses STOP per STOP’s web site.
The letter, which was addressed as “Dear Sacramento County Libertarian,” has reached non Sacramento city residents including those living in Antelope, Elk Grove and North Highlands.
The letter was written by Mr. Michael Sertic.
Mr. Sertic wrote: “Unless this issue is put up for a vote on the June 2014 ballot, Sacramentans will not be afforded the opportunity to vet the Downtown arena subsidy plan.”
We wonder how many times or how often Mr. Sertic has attended Sacramento City council meetings, town hall meetings, etc. on the arena and had his voice be heard. A quick search for his last name in the archived Sacramento City Council meetings showed ZERO results.
Mr. Sertic also wrote: “If you agree that Sacramentans should be allowed to vote on the arena subsidy plan, please help by signing the petition and returning it in the included envelope.”
We wonder what Mr. Sertic was thinking in how a non Sacramento city resident will help by signing STOP’s petition.
We have been given a copy of the letter.
UPDATE 11/10/2013 7:34 PM: According to the Libertarian Party of Sacramento County’s web site, Mr. Michael Sertic is not listed as a member of the Executive Committee for the Libertarian Party of Sacramento County.
According to his LinkedIn, Mr. Sertic is employed by the Morning Star.
The Morning Star’s founder is Mr. Chris Rufer.
Mr. Rufer recently donated $25,000 to STOP.
In the letter there is no representation or any type of indication of sponsorship from the Libertarian Party of Sacramento County.
